Document your life...

Even when it's just because you got a black eye! This weekend brought a weird little surprise. I was out on a shoot in Greensboro, NC. After I finished photographing Tona we all decided to have lunch together. We parked the car and were walking to the restaurant. I noticed I had an email I needed to tend to so I was emailing and walking (never a good thing). I walked around the corner and was immediately startled! I had blood dripping from my face and was disoriented while I was trying to figure out what happened. There is an antique shop on the corner and they decided to hang two very large, wooden birdhouses in the middle of the sidewalk. Well, one of these gems met my face and left me with a gash in my eye lid and a colorful black eye! A nice stranger gave me some Kleenex and joked and asked if my model hit me. We went inside I got my eye sorted and we enjoyed a lunch together. I'm thankful my awesome clients were able to laugh about it with me and thankful I was able to laugh at myself.

Here is my eye on day three. Less swollen but still very colorful!

Garden of the gods, Colorado.

Colorado is absolutely beautiful!!! I wish I could of spent more time there but, hopefully soon! I was fortunate enough to spend the night at my dear friend Cassandra's house in Denver. Cassandra and I have been friends since junior high and I consider her more of a sister than a friend. I got to see a bit of Denver but headed out pretty early the next morning to make my journey to California. I didn't know I'd pass by The Garden of the gods but when I saw the sign off the freeway I knew I had to stop! There was snow on the ground, it was extremely cold but I parked my car and wandered around a bit to snap some photos of this breathtaking place! This is one of the most beautiful places I've seen! Up next....New Mexico and its beautiful sky!

Kansas...I'll never forget you.

Driving through Kansas at night was by far one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. I drove through Kansas City around 9pm and still had at least 3 hours before I would arrive at my friend Renee's house in Scandia, KS. I ended up oh hwy 24 this is where my drive started to freak me out. This was by far the darkest, most desolate, road I'd ever driven on. Being from the city, I'm used to being around a lot of people and cars so being in the middle of nowhere Kansas, in the middle of the night, by myself with random cars along the road with their hazards on started to scare me. I made a couple phone calls, before my phone battery died and asked for prayers of peace, that's how bad it was.

I did arrive at Renee's safely but I will have to say that nights drive was terrifying. These photos are from the following day leaving Kansas on my way to Denver, Colorado. I was fascinated by the trees in Kanas, there wasn't much to see but the trees were wonderful. I pulled off the road when I saw this cemetery and had to get a few photos. Up next....Colorado.

Meet me in St. Louis!

On my second day of travel, I drove through St. Louis, Missouri. I've never seen the famous Arch, so I had to take the time and explore it a little. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day! I captured some images of the Arch that I love and then took off and went on a little photo safari. I came across steam coming from the ground and was fascinated by it. I found myself laying in the street to get this image. Then finally I found a really interesting building along the waterfront. I enjoyed my brief time in St. Louis, hopefully I'll be able to revisit it again in the near future.
